"Air Raid" is a project that highlights my growth as a 3D artist. Taking on a 3D film challenged me to fully understand the production pipeline and explore a wide range of programs. I dedicated extra time to learning by taking advanced rigging and animation classes, studying Gnomon Workshop tutorials, and experimenting with different workflows and rendering styles.
Throughout the process, I worked with Photoshop, Storyboard Pro, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, Unreal Engine, and Premiere Pro.
As my skills improved, the film naturally evolved. I was able to recognize early mistakes and refine my work, showing how much I’ve progressed in both artistry and technical ability.

Original Storyboards
Initial Sketches
Main Chatacter - Beth
Secondary Character - Mia
Initiallly I was stuck between dragons and planes for the initial concept. Although, later I would switch over to dragons when I had a better understanding of rigging creatures
First Rig
This First Rig Was my first major stepping stone for making the film. Using Zbrush, I modeled the body face boots and hair. I learned how to sew clothes in Marvelous designer. and Retopologized the Face body and clothes in Maya. I learned how to use advance skeleton to create a rig for my character that could help me create large motor movements as well as facial animation.
This was created and finished January - April 2023
Beth’s Second Rig
While i was really impressed I completed the first rig, I realized it had several flaws with topology in the body . I wasnt impressed with the character design either. Animating this character felt very stiff too.
For the second Rig design I first simplified the design to help deal with more of the technical issues and make it easier for the scope of a student film. I was mostly inspired with Nimona’s design choices using larger shapes and simpler facial features
I expiramented with different rendering styles. First I used Flair to try a 2d 3d stlized look for the film. but overall i think I enjoyed handpainting textures in substance painter and rendering in Unreal engine.
